About last night 💜

March 2025

Prepare ta' be sickAme! 🤣 I have been so gleefully awaiting posting these with this song!
I'm SO excited to finally have these far along enough to share them.
A labor of love, soon headed to New York 🗽
🤗💜💜💜

I tool a poll and let the people name these boots. Since I'm making these post after-the-fact i will put the chosen names here with the "story" of each boot's "owner." *All stories and boot owner name are completely fictional.

Sophia "Sofi" Delgado has always lived on the edge of two worlds—one foot in the artistic world and the other in the rugged outdoors. A painter and photographer, Sofi finds inspiration in nature, often capturing the beauty of the open plains at sunset. Her boots, with their pink and gold hues, represent her unique blend of femininity and strength. The fringes sway with the wind as she walks the earth she loves, while the pointed overlays reflect the sharp focus and vision she applies to her artwork. Sofi's boots were a gift from her grandmother, a well-known cowgirl in the '60s who taught her to embrace both the freedom of the west and the creative spirit of a true artist. With these boots, Sofi continues to blend her bohemian spirit with her cowboy heritage, and her artwork is a testament to the beauty she sees in the world around her.

Rose' Rodeos, Women's Size 9

Wyatt "Wyo" Lawson runs a well-known boutique ranch in Wyoming, where he’s not only revered for his skills in ranching but also for his leadership and community spirit. While he spends most of his time overseeing his cattle and land, he is also a well-respected philanthropist who hosts events to raise funds for rural community projects. His gray lambskin and turquoise crocodile cowboy boots with sienna-colored suede fringes were custom-made for him as a gift during a charity event he attended, symbolizing the perfect blend of rustic charm and elegant taste. The boots are his signature accessory at every event, from casual dinner parties to the fundraising galas where he’s the guest of honor. The turquoise crocodile design captures his love for the unique, while the gray learher represents the resilience of life on the ranch. The sienna-colored fringes add a touch of elegant flair, reflecting his ability to blend old-world cowboy charm with his sophisticated, entrepreneurial lifestyle. His boots are a conversation starter, reflecting his role as a leader and a man who appreciates both the simple life and the finer things.

Brianna "Bree" Hayes always felt the call of the open road. After years of working in a corporate office, Bree decided to leave her 9-to-5 behind and follow her true passion for exploring the rugged beauty of the American West. She became a full-time travel blogger, sharing her experiences, breathtaking photographs, and insider tips on everything from hidden cowboy towns to the best hiking trails in the Rockies. Bree’s burgundy, pink, and tan leather boots have been with her through it all—on horseback rides, desert treks, and quiet mornings in small mountain cabins. The rounded abstract overlays on her boots reflect her free-spirited approach to life and her ability to find beauty in the unexpected. Bree’s blog has become a go-to source for adventure seekers and lovers of the western lifestyle, and her boots are a symbol of her journey—a journey that blends travel, storytelling, and a love for the wild, untamed west.

Sheriff Cole "Red" Mitchell, never planned on becoming the sheriff of a small, quiet mountain town in Colorado. He had always imagined a life as a detective in a big city, working on high-profile cases and tackling crime in an urban setting. But after a personal tragedy, Red left behind the fast-paced world of city life, seeking peace and solitude in a small, secluded town. He never expected the local sheriff to retire so abruptly, or for the town to ask him to step in. Despite his reservations, Red reluctantly agreed to take on the role, figuring it would give him a chance to heal while still serving the community.

After accepting the position, Red realized that he needed more than just a badge and a gun—he needed to truly embrace his new life. One afternoon, while strolling through town, he walked into a local boot shop. The boots there weren’t just any cowboy boots—they were a part of the heritage of the community, a symbol of the ruggedness and strength required to protect the land. That day, Red chose to purchase a pair of steel-blue ostrich and brown cowhide hair boots, drawn to their toughness and unique design. The ostrich leather reflected his calm demeanor, while the cowhide hair connected him to the town’s traditions. The black leather strap that held the gold spurs in place reminded Red that this new life wasn’t something he could take lightly, and that he had a responsibility to the people who had placed their trust in him.

These days, Red wears those boots just about everywhere. During his daily patrols, to town meetings, and even when he’s simply walking main street, quietly observing the community he’s come to love. The spurs jingle softly with every step, a reminder that, despite his initial reluctance, Red has found purpose in this small town and is now fully committed to keeping the peace and protecting those who live there. The boots have become a part of him, just as his role as sheriff has, reminding him that sometimes life leads us down unexpected paths, and it's the way we walk them out that defines us.

February 2025

Fun Fact: I purchased this green leather, inspired to create a piece that would express the aftermath of hurricane Helene, but then one day, I got THIS idea 💡

As it began to take form, just letting the leather be my guide, I felt the need to add one more wood bead, so I was obedient. Days later, the title was given to me, "Revelation 22:2." Look it up 🌳

Come see my art!

Reception:
Saturday, February 15, 2025
5:00-7:00pm

Better World Studios
125 Marshall Street
Graniteville, SC 29829

Fun Fact: Though most of my work is based on concepts and expressions or impressions that are personal to me, this piece was inspired by the work and mission of a story I recently heard another artist share...

"I became very enamored by the circle. This circle came from an experience when I was a child during segregation, where we visited my mother and sisters in Ohio. And my father loves root beer. We would drive to Kentucky, and we got chilled root beer in a glass. In the bottom of our glasses was a red circle, and that meant that was for Black people. You couldn't share any silverware or glassware with Whites. And that's what I think, when the circle really hit me, you know, that became something I wanted to undo in a way, or to express it in a way where the circle is beautiful and not used as a form of punishment, that you cannot drink from the same mug."
~ Howardena Pindell

As somewhat of a self-titled hippe, I coupled Howardena's words with the style of a piece by Alexandar Calder that I'd noticed in a photo @daynalovesart shared from one of her recent art excursions, and my, "Lys Cercle Rouge," was born, helping to change the narative!

FunFact: The beads I wear in my hair connect me to my art, or my art to me... just depends on the day. Yet every day, the beads in my hair connect me to myself, which is where I find my wealth in and of creativity.

This piece, titled "Tribal Mitigation, " tells a story also.

August 25, 2023

NEW PRICE ALERT 💜

August 12, 2023
When I think of summer, I think of summer vacations, beaches, road trips, seeing new states, hitting all the landmarks, going to all the quirky spots, and simply getting out on the road to seeing America!
As a child growing up in California, the best Summers were those when we set out across country to visit our grandparents in Virginia.
As I got to work on my paintings for American Summer, I was transported back to the summer days on the open road with my family. My sisters and I would get so excited when we'd pass the different little shops along the way, because we knew we'd be able to buy little goodies and trinkets with the vacation money our parent's had given us.
My go-to was always something way too expensive and then I'd end up finding my way to the postcards. You could usually get at least four for a dollar. What a bargain! I never had anyone in mind to send them to, but the pictures were beautiful and in my mind I could imagine having friends in far away places to send fun letters to that described my trip.
Once we were back home, I loved to sit and look through my postcards that I had collected, remembering every stop that we made.
Postcards make the most beautiful little reminders!
********
In light of the recent tragedies we are currently seeing, I thought it would be very fitting to expand on the creation of Fun In Paradise.
My process, actually for all of my Have A Nice Trip collection, was to create the fluid background and then allow it to tell me what American destination it represented.
From the moment I first saw the dry foundation of what came to be Fun In Paradise, I knew that it would be a piece to represent the beautiful experience of the ocean. I then tried to see it as Redondo Beach or Long Beach, both of which I frequented as a California native, yet, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't feel it as a reality.
So I stepped back from the piece for awhile, and the next time I approached it, I could see it clearly... this was Hawaii.
I am stunned at how relevant this piece suddenly became! Although it doesn't actually depict specific locations or scenes of the island of Maui, Fun In Paradise was created with all of the location's natural beauty in mind. Now, Fun In Paradise has become one of the last creations from the mindset of what we knew Maui to be up until August 8, 2023.
I extend my deepest heartfelt condolences to all of those who have been affected by the tragic fires in Maui.
Thou Art Ju D

Mother's Day 💐

April 6, 2023

Being an artist is very fulfilling! I discovered the @roco137 6×6 Project a few days ago and I'm very pleased to say that I was able to get a submission together in time to mail out in support of their efforts to keep art accessible... not quite how they've worded their mission, but it's literally one of the things they do ☺️ and this 6×6 Project is proof! 💜

1. Irie Iguana - him wan jam, him wan dance.
2. Panther Pon de Prowl - the Vines of the jungle hide him, but find the intensity in his exposed eye and sprawled whiskers to arrive beyond the window to his soul.
3. 8 Locks Under The Sea - 8 tentacles fling and give strength, as he moves with a royal grace that commands respect.
4. Coqui Calypso - as the steel drum is to calypso, so is the "ko-kee" of the Coqui. Both can make a heart dance.
